IS YOUR CHOCOLATE SAFE? How about Your Toys?

Barcodes aren't just for books you know.

Something we all need to know - a note in Cynthia Sterling's excellent newsletter today.

The whole world is scared of Chinese made goods. Let me tell you how you can differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China...the first 3 digits of barcode690, 691, and 692 are MADE IN CHINA. - 471 is Made in Taiwan .

This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.
Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "made in china", so they don't show in which country it is made.
However, you may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits is 690-692 then it is made in China .

A is for Attitude

A is for Attitude

Sometimes survival is a matter of attitude. I read something once that said basically, your altitude is determined by your attitude. That can mean a lot of different things.

If you think you can do a thing, for instance, it may very well surprise you to find out that you actually can accomplish that which you wish to do. Henry Ford is often quoted as saying that with the added —if you think you can’t, you’re right.

Once our choices are clear to the universe it seems things start moving in our favor. I would never have imagined I would ever be a single parent raising a daughter—that thought never entered my mind in my teen years or even later when I met Mr. Right.

But here I am with Taylor, an already nearly grown woman herself. I could have given her up for adoption when I found myself alone and pregnant. I loved her father, I was old enough to raise her responsibly and even if I hadn’t been. I loved this precious little life the minute I knew, and when I held her the first time—I never doubted my choice one iota.

My attitude toward life changed right then and there. I just knew, whatever life demanded of me—I could do.

Life is like that, faith in yourself and the right attitude are more then enough to see you through. Trust yourself.

Love

HEAR YE! HEAR YE!

Stepping center stage to entertain you ….

None other then –

In this day and age of razing landmarks to make way for High Rise Apartments or concrete parking ramps there is little left of the old world. When it comes to entertainment, the environment changes even faster. The Ghost Music of Vaudeville is about a troupe of actors, actresses and musicians who were part of the vaudeville stage at one time. The theatre sits in disrepair, and a greedy land developer is out for revenge. Part of that revenge is to demolish every Keith Theatre in the United States.

Charlie Wolfe, reporter for the Ironwood Daily Globe, Tommy Forester, teenager and champion for the down trodden, and Piano Man, (aka Rudy Poncigrau) who used to play for the vaudeville acts, the black and white movies, and more all have other ideas.

Will one last performance bring out enough support to stop the bulldozers before Damien Callistrari and his henchmen extract the revenge he seeks? Roberto Callistrari is going against his father’s wishes when he begins to fall for Charlie Wolfe –with his ties to Hollywood and Broadway he entices Bette Midler to bring her creativity and personality to help bring the Keith Theatre back from the edge. Together will they be enough to save this Keith Theatre and those lives so intrinsically entwined with the Ghost Music of Vaudeville that still haunts the walls and stage of this Keith Theatre in Ironwood, Michigan.

I'm Not there yet? But I'm Hoping

Jordan Dane is a writer friend of mine--She has an amazing
shot at a once in a life time career.Come along with us
and lets see how she does it.

We’ve certainly had some great comments during each stop of the
Virtual Book Tour for Jordan Dane.
Why was she chosen to be our first vic … I mean featured author?
Because she has a very professional website.
Because she has a very professional blog.
Because she has a presence on MySpace and other networking
sites around the ‘Net.
Because she attends every writer’s conference she can
possibly get to to network with successful writers,
editors, agents.
Because she promotes herself as a professional writer.
She isn’t resting on her laurels after having sold SIX books
to Avon HarperCollins before the first one hit print.

If you’re like me and wannabe like Jordan, take a look
at how you’re promoting yourself. Does your website look
like a novice put it together Do you remember to blog
more than once a month Do you network with other writers?

Or do you do like too many very good should-be-published
writers… and hunker down in the corner pretending that
you’ve done everything you can and the publishing world and all
its agents are against you?

Think about that as you visit the next stops on
The Writer’s Chatroom’ “Show—Not Tell” virtual
book tour featuring debut author Jordan Dane.

Jordan and Avon HarperCollins are offering
opportunities to win great prizes all along the tour.

Next up:

Have you seen Taylor?

You’ve seen Taylor, my beautiful and brilliant fifteen year old daughter? (of course I’m prejudiced, what mother wouldn’t be. But she is.)

I never told her the complete story of her father, Aristotle. He was easy on the eyes. Who am I kidding he was drop dead gorgeous, at least to me. Oh yes, and others who constantly tried to steal him away from me. But he was mine. We were a team, until—Why he disappeared is now clear. Why he didn’t try to contact us is also clear, very clear. You did read that chapter already didn’t you?

I admire him for that, as angry as it makes me. Taylor has his eyes, in a different color - but they have that same intenseness, they are still deep and hypnotic. She knows now, about him. I hope she will forgive him and me for him not being in her life. Too late he tried to see her. He did leave her a great college fund. He always was wonderfully caring and attentive. Too bad life trapped him in such ungainly circumstances. At least, I know now what happened and why. I can sleep better knowing his devotion never ended. I can move on knowing I didn’t misjudge him.

Back to Taylor. Isn’t she gorgeous. Yes she has Aristotle’s looks and brilliant mind. I’m very lucky. She and Echo are my two dearest people in the whole world. That Taylor could just hop in and take her place at the store amazed me, and yet not. I mean, I never had her be a clerk or anything at the Capricorn Goat, I figured she needed time to grow up, be a child – enjoy her teen years. But, I may have to rethink that. She could be a great asset and it would be good work experience for her. Yes, I think I might have to think about having her work with me next year when she turns sixteen so it will be legal. The way she helped Echo – correction— the way they helped each other – hmmm. How come are parents the last to see their daughter's grow into women.

Don’t forget if your book club is reading from my book club, The Capricorn Goat ~~ January Flannel and they want to begin a completed novel Small Town Secrets is now available everywhere ISBN 978-1-59705-766-0 (print) 978-1-59705-283-2 (electronic) and there is a study guide available on my website at http://www.billiewilliams.com for free.

Catch you all later. Oh thanks for asking my leg is healing well the doctor said. Should be out of the cast in a month or so.

January Flannel is...

First of all I'm a Capricorn that makes me a Fir Tree since my birthday is January 11.

What does the fir tree have to say about me? I'm the mysterious one. Extraordinary taste, I handle stress poorly, I love anything beautiful, I can become depressed at times, I'm stubborn (just ask Dakota Phoenix).

I tend to care for those close to me as well as helping strangers. This is certainly true. My friend Echo is a delight and I would do anything for her, as I would for my daughter, Taylor. I am supposedly rather modest - it may not look like it from the first sentence about extraordinary taste {smile} but I really am. I have a hard time tooting my own horn. I'm just telling you what the druid tree chart tells about me. I am a hard worker, talented? [I'm not sure of this one, but I do dabble in many crafts and hobbies], unselfish and I have many friends. I'm selective about the male company I keep. I do not like having enemies. I would consider myself very reliable.

So that's me in a tree branch. Later I'll tell you a few more of those characteristics that make me who I am. Why I drive Warren Westlake, Sheriff of our small town crazy. My thoughts on coach Dakota Phoenix as soon as I figure out what they are...{smile}

So hang around, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and chat a while.
